Your last words are some of your most important words you will ever speak.
Someday you will be on your death bed, and you will ponder your final words to your family and friends. You may even write them down, or record them, so your family can continue to hear both your voice and your words. But your final words will be remembered.
Let’s examine some of Paul’s final words as he requests prayer:
“Pray for us, for our conscience is clear and we want to live honorably in everything we do. may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.” Hebrews 13:18, 21 NLT
1. LIVE HONORABLY
Paul knew he could only live honorably when his conscience was clear before God. Our lives must also match the word of God. By God’s strength, we must practice what we preach. And when we fail, we must try to make it right with those we offended. We must walk humbly before God and mankind. Our actions speak louder than our words.
2. BE EQUIPPED BY GOD COMPLETELY
Paul knew the importance of discipling others in order for them to grow in their faith. As we teach others, they can become equipped to pray in faith, believe in faith, and share their faith as we do! The Ephesians four ministry offices are all there to equip the church for powerful and effective works of ministry.
3. SEE GOD PRODUCE IN ME EVERYTHING THAT GIVES HONOR TO HIM.
When facing life’s challenges, we can pray, “I ask You to act according to Your will.” We want His will to be done in our lives more than anything else. It is God who does the work in us as we take the steps of faith prompted by Him. He will finish the work He started within us!
Well said, Paul! And I echo his words too. May God answer this prayer for all of us!
