The Prayer of Overflow

Friend, the moment you received Jesus, you became a potential powerhouse for God.

The Holy Spirit Himself now lives within you. But here’s the burning question: will you hunger for His gifts so deeply that they overflow from your heart into everything around you?

We all know Christians who love Jesus — but don’t always act very loving. Sometimes that’s me.

Then we know those believers whose lives simply overflow with His love. You can feel it the moment they walk in the room. Which one do you want to be?

“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive. — John 7:38–39 NKJV

Here’s the choice: overflow with your own personality — or overflow with the person of the Holy Spirit. The difference is everything. Here are four steps to living in the overflow:

1. Ask for the Spirit’s Power. The disciples walked with Jesus three years — and still He told them to wait for the Spirit’s power. So must we. Daily pray: “Lord, I can’t do this alone. Overflow me with the same Spirit who raised You from the dead.”

2. Receive the Filling of the Spirit. Move from theology to experience. Just as you receive healing by faith, receive the Spirit’s filling the same way — ask, believe, and expect Him to fill you now. Hunger for His power to change you. Don’t settle for less!

3. Boldly Go and Be His Witness. The Spirit within you is not timid — He is bold. When you’re truly led by the Spirit, you’ll be bold too. You’ll seek opportunities to represent Jesus, and when they come, you’ll speak — compassionately and confidently. This boldness isn’t personality; it’s the Spirit flowing through a surrendered life.

4. Imitate Christ. Jesus said, “Follow Me.” Paul said, “Imitate me as I imitate Christ.” We have authority to forgive, heal, and push back darkness. So let’s stop just talking about it and singing about it — let’s do it. The Spirit’s power was never meant to stay inside the church. The love of Jesus compels us to overflow into our world.

So let’s prayerfully wait, boldly receive, and fearlessly go — imitating Jesus, moved by His Spirit, and living for His glory!
