Monday Mourning

For those who hate Mondays, let’s turn it around by having a funeral service for your Monday mournings.

Yes, that’s right. If everyday is a gift from God, and everyday was made by God, then Mondays are to be celebrated too! So let’s choose to die to ourselves… and our hatred of Mondays.

Why do some people hate Mondays?

Maybe it’s a return to work, facing people you don’t like, regret over what happened last weekend, no time to sleep in, hating your job, laziness, loathing responsibility, or feeling overwhelmed, etc.

But as a believer, here’s what I know. In Christ, each day is a present from God, so there’s no time like the present. Each day can be filled with the knowledge of God, the promise of His presence, and the blessing of helping others find Jesus. In Christ, everyday is an adventure!

But if I despise Mondays, then I’ve lost 1/7th of my potential, 1/7th of my ability to know God deeper, and 1/7th of my opportunities to bless others. That means 14.2857% of my life is wasted! Ouch.

So what should we do? Next Monday morning, quote these verses out loud to yourself:

“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.” Isaiah 60:1 NKJV

“Wake up, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations.” Psalms 108:2-3 NLT

“This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalms 118:24 NKJV

Start each day with praising God, and reading His word. Thank Him for His presence. And pray about everything. Pray, “Lord, I’m available today!”

Mondays look quite different when you see them through the eyes of your Savior and best friend! No matter what we face, we are never alone. Let’s depend upon our superhero, the Holy Spirit, to guide us, heal us, and empower us to be His witnesses…even on Mondays!
