I recently gave my life to Him
Congratulations!
I am so happy that you prayed to ask Jesus to be the king of your heart. This is a new and exciting beginning for you. I know it took a lot of courage and a little faith, but God heard your prayer.
And since you invited Jesus to be your Lord, He will now give you direction, guidance, comfort and peace. His purposes will now begin to be lived out in your life as you partner with Him each day. The sky is going to look bluer, and the grass greener. And when you have problems, you can run to Him in prayer.
So let’s review how the Bible says we can know we are going to heaven.
I call it the ABCs:
Admit I have done wrong. I am a sinner. And God cannot let even one little sin into heaven, or it would no longer be heaven.
Believe in my heart that Jesus literally came to die for my sins, and rose again, proving He was the real deal.”
Confess my sin and ask for His great forgiveness. Be willing to turn away from any sin with God’s help. Confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior… my boss.
As you now know, you couldn’t clean up your life before you came to God. You had to come just as you are. He isn’t impressed with our cleanness or good works, because He is completely sinless. He invites us to be forgiven and free!
And so, I would guess the prayer you prayed went something like this:
“Dear Jesus,
I admit I have done wrong, and that I am a sinner. I am sorry for my sin. I believe You died in my place and rose again. So I confess my sins to you. Please forgive me, and give me a new beginning. I ask You to be the boss and Lord of my heart. Help me now to live for You. I thank You for Your great love and forgiveness. I pray this in Jesus’ name… amen!”
And if you meant that prayer from your heart, then God heard you immediately. He forgave you of every rotten and sinful thing you had ever committed. Whether your sin was small or large, it was forgiven. And now you have a brand new beginning… a clean slate!
And here is how you can keep this love for God fresh and strong:
Read your Bible and pray everyday. I would encourage you to start reading in the book of Saint John. It will tell you all about Jesus and His awesome love for you. And prayer is simply talking to God. Thank Him for the good things in your life, and ask Him for wisdom in the hard things of life.
Find a church to attend that believes the Bible is true, and preaches about knowing Jesus personally like you now do. If you need help finding one, email me and I will help you. Be water baptized. It will help seal the deal in your heart and your commitment will be stronger. Your church can help you with this. Be filled with the Holy Spirit. Ask God to fill you everyday with His Spirit, and to release His gifts in you. The first 5 chapters of the book of Acts will help you. Tell someone else as often as you can about your prayer today, and how Jesus forgave you.
