Would people who know you say you are teachable?
Here’s the facts. As we get older, we get less teachable. We get stuck in our own ruts, and we don’t especially like change.
God is our greatest teacher. He wants us to always be a student who is becoming a stronger disciple. To reach that goal, we must be teachable.
In the Old Testament God gave them the 10 Commandments as a foundation of what to do and not to do. In the New Testament, Jesus gave us only two commandments of what to do. If we do those two commandments, they will fulfill all the other 10 Commandments.
What are they? Love God with all our heart. Love our neighbor as we love ourself.
“For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law. This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.” Romans 13:9-11 NLT
Did you get it?
DON’T do many things.
DO one thing. Love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
He says we need to wake up, for His return is soon, and our time on earth is short.
So what should we do? “Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.” Romans 13:14 NLT
- Let God’s passion for others grow in our heart.
- Let compassion move us to both see and help those in need.
- Let the words of salvation come out of our mouth so they know the love of God for them.
- Let it happen now.
