Some people are dying while they are still living.
Everyone needs hope. Without it we inwardly begin to die. Hope is defined as: “A feeling of expectation and desire that a certain thing will happen.”
But there’s one major and repeated mistake all humans make. We try to find our hope in things like our possessions, our educational degrees, our money, and our family. We look forward to vacations, but sometimes return from them exhausted. We buy what we saved to afford, but the thrills of it wear off sooner than we thought. We think getting married will fill us with hope, yet even marriage has its share of challenges.
We are missing out on the one key answer to our quest for hope. Here it is:
True and lasting hope only comes from God. Everything else is fake.
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 NLT
If you want hope, if you want peace, and if you want joy, you have to go to the source of it.
So welcome to HOPE WEEK! Each day this next week we will try to build our hope in Christ. If you haven’t subscribed to the daily blog, you can do so here. I pray you will be inspired to return to your first hope, to trust God again with a child-like faith, and to help others find hope too!
Even as we help others find hope, the hope in Christ becomes ignited in our hearts again!
