We did it. Who would have thought we could fly around the moon and back safely in ten days?
I heard the interview of the four astronauts from the recent Artemis spacecraft mission around the moon. When asked what life principles motivated them, one said it simply and boldly:
“Do what scares you!”
In other words — don’t reach for small goals. Big goals require big thinking. They also said: find something that slowly fulfills you for a lifetime, something you genuinely enjoy. Don’t jump from one idea to the next. Commit, dig in, and grow.
God Has Big Goals for You Too
God has goals just like that for us:
1. Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
2. Love your neighbor as yourself.
Those two goals will take us all a lifetime to reach — and they are the most fulfilling goals ever given to humanity.
So what scares you? What can you dream about that you could never do in your own strength? What dreams has God put in your heart? What will you do that will last for eternity?
If you decide to do what scares you, it will change your life forever. The unknown is definitely more scary than the known — but that’s exactly where God does His best work. He wants to grow us by growing our faith.
“For with God nothing will be impossible.” Luke 1:37 NKJV
What Does That Look Like?
- For some, it’s slaying a wicked giant in their life.
- For others, it’s sharing their faith — even when they stutter like Moses.
- For others, it’s believing God to fulfill a big dream He placed on their heart.
- And for others, it’s overcoming fear through the boldness of the Holy Spirit.
For many, it means joining with like-minded people who share similar dreams. The synergy of people working together multiplies our efforts far beyond what any of us can accomplish alone. God designed it that way.
Don’t be afraid to think big.
In Christ, nothing is impossible to the one who believes. It’s both scary and fun!
