Conduits

A water hose is under-appreciated, because it only brings the water where you need it to go. But if the hose is bent or kinked, it stops the flow, and we get frustrated.

So it is with us. You and I are conduits, bringing God’s water of love to others. But if the flow is limited, it’s because something in us is bent, broken or misaligned.

Here’s how it works. God pours His living water into our souls. It forgives us, restores us and refreshes us. Then the same water is meant to flow through us to others, who can also drink of the same water God gave to us.

“Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)” John 7:38-39 NLT

Yes, the living water referred to here is the Holy Spirit. His water of life was never meant to only reside within us. He desires for His message to flow out of us, bringing healing and hope to others.

When the children of Israel had gone days without water, Moses lifted up his rod and struck a rock. And out of it flowed living water for the people’s refreshment.

But later something wonderful happened. When the New Testament Jews remembered God’s miraculous provision by bringing water from the rock. Jesus stood up in their synagogue declaring He is now the rock through which the water of God’s love flows.

Similarly, God’s Spirit dwells within us, ready to flow to others, if we will only let it.

God not only wants to refresh you, He wants His love to flow through you to other thirsty souls, who are desperately looking in all the wrong places to quench their thirst.

In fact, that’s the mission statement of Oasis World Ministries:

“Bringing LIVING water to thirsty people!”

That’s what the wall plaques say on all our water wells in India:

“WATERS OF LOVE: TOUCHING THE WORLD WITH THE LOVE OF JESUS”

This is why we share our faith!
