Jesus was upset. After performing miracle after miracle, the people still wouldn’t repent.
Imagine throwing a huge celebration for someone — and they never once said thank you.
But then Jesus turned His heart toward His Father’s strategy.
“O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike.” — Matthew 11:25 NLT
Childlike faith. That’s what God loves — faith
that is trusting, grateful, and teachable.
So Jesus turned to the crowd and made an astonishing offer:
“Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” — Matthew 11:29 NLT
Did you catch that? Jesus offered to teach them. The moment I read that phrase again, my heart immediately prayed: “Oh Lord, please keep teaching me. Don’t let me ever think I know enough of Your ways. Give me a child’s heart.”
This is how we grow. A teachable heart produces a mature believer.
I once met a 65-year-old Christian who told me, “Tom, I think I’ve learned almost everything God is going to teach me.” My heart sank. We are meant to remain students until our very last breath. God has so much more for us — if we stay teachable and eager.
Let’s pray:
“Lord, You are my leader, and I am not. I humbly submit myself to Your Lordship, and ask that You guide my steps, make Your thoughts my thoughts, and teach me Your ways. I need You — I dare not live even one day without Your presence and guidance. Thank You! In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.”
