Afraid of the Unknown

Imagine you are guilty of a crime, and heading for 10 years in prison.

But suddenly word comes from the judge you have been set free. Someone else paid for your freedom. Would you say, “No thanks, I’m just getting comfortable now in my prison cell, and I’m making new friends here.” Of course not. But often we avoid God’s freedom call to us, because we don’t like change, and we are afraid of the unknown.

When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, something strange happened. He got a second chance at life! He could’ve said, “No thanks Jesus. Life is too hard, and my time is done.”

“And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.” John 11:44 NKJV

God still had more adventures for Lazarus. And as long as we live, God has more adventures of faith for us. Are we resisting change, or welcoming new life? Are we ready to join Jesus on more faith-adventures, or are we already spiritually retired?

Years ago God challenged me to step it up, and start sharing my faith outside my church. He said if I didn’t do it, He would find someone else, but me and my family would miss the blessing!

It was similar to what God said to Queen Esther when she was challenged to go before her king uninvited, to help rescue her Jewish people from destruction. She bravely did what God invited her to do, and she changed her legacy, and protected her nation!

God still has exciting plans for you! Don’t give them to someone else if God chooses you. Your best may be yet to come. Don’t miss out on what God has been dreaming up for you and Him to do together.
