Some believers tell themselves lies.
They say if God really blessed me with a lot of money, then I would give a lot of it back to Him. But if they don’t give now out of the little they have, they won’t give out of the much.
The same is true in our everyday lives. God wants us to use what we have, and not just dream about what we might do someday with what we don’t have.
Peter was walking into the synagogue one afternoon to pray. He saw a lame man begging, and they joined eyes. The man was expecting Peter to give him something. Peter said something that changed his life:
“But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened. He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them.” Acts 3:6-8 NLT
Peter used what he had. And so can we. You and I have four wonderful things to offer:
1. OUR TESTIMONY– Our faith-story can reignite their hunger to know God personally.
2. GOD’S FORGIVENESS – We can offer God’s forgiveness by explaining His plan of salvation.
3. GOD’S HEALING – We can lay hands on the sick and speak God’s healing word to them.
4. OUR FRIENDSHIP – We can be friends of sinners just like Jesus modeled for us.
So each and every day, simply begin your day with these four words of prayer:
“Lord, I’m available today.”
Then look for the opportunities God sends your way. Use what you have, and then watch as God multiplies it!
