Sadly, we think we know more than we do. But we don’t know what we don’t know!
For example, I just learned that my iPhone calculator is much more powerful than I ever knew. It can figure percentages, fractions, and…surprise, currency conversions! So when I travel to other countries, now I can immediately know what my money is worth there.
So it is with God. It’s easy to say, “I know that parable. I’ve memorized that verse. I’ve heard a sermon on that before.” But revelation is progressive, which always leads to a greater transformation of my mind and heart.
A French pastor told me most pastors there think they know it all. Sounds like me sometimes. But no, we all need to have a teachable heart and an eager-to-learn spirit.
In fact, the Bible tells us all that the pastors, prophets, teachers, apostles and evangelists are needed to keep equipping us until we are mature and perfect saints!
“till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;” Ephesians 4:13 NKJV
We are all to keep learning from each other until we are perfected in Christ. I guess I still have a long way to go… and grow!
“but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—” Ephesians 4:15 NKJV
So here’s to our “growing pains”. May we never stop increasing in the knowledge and revelation of our wonderful Savior. May we always have a child-like heart to know and follow Christ more fully.
Yes, we don’t know what we don’t know. But by His Spirit, we are all still learning!
