Boast the Greatness of God

By ourselves, we are nothing. Any good thing in us stems from God.

Sometimes I feel like I really accomplished something good. And I did, but not apart from God’s wisdom, strength and help. Pride tries to control us all.

Jesus did not “receive honor from men”, but deflected any honor back to God. John 5:41

“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!” Psalms 103:2-5 NLT

When we realize all we are is from God, how can we use it to share our faith-story?

I was talking with an investment banker, and at the close I asked, “So may I tell you about the best investment I ever made?” He eagerly sat forward in his chair, thinking I would refer him to a hot stock pick. Instead I told him my One Minute Witness. And he thanked me.

  • If you are a teacher, say “may I tell you the greatest lesson I’ve ever learned so far?”
  • An auto mechanic can say, “may I tell you the greatest problem I’ve ever faced?”
  • A waitress can say, “may I tell you about the most meaningful tip I ever received?”
  • A student can say, “may I tell you about my favorite teacher of all time?”
  • A salesman can say, “may I tell you about the greatest offer I’ve ever heard about?”

When I am convinced all that I am stems from God, then I look for ways to brag about His work in and through me. I’m hoping they will also surrender all that they are to God!

“In God we boast all day long, and praise Your name forever. Selah” Psalms 44:8 NKJV
