Do you have a sweet tooth? It means you crave to eat sweets! I have to admit I love my ice cream desserts.
But God has something much better for us to crave.

“Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.” 1 Peter 2:2-3 NLT
Peter is writing to the Christian Jews who have migrated to modern-day Turkey. He is admonishing them to do two things: leave their sinful practices, and crave spiritual growth.
To crave is to have a powerful desire. How about you? Do you crave spiritual growth? Do you know who you really are in Christ?
Peter wants them to know their new status in Christ. They’ve graduated. They are now God’s chosen people, and a royal priesthood, who can spread the news of Jesus to their tribes.
“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 NLT
You too have graduated! You are no longer a slave to sin. The old you are gone. You are now a new creation, where all things have become new. This means you can now live a new life by the power of the Spirit! You can show others the goodness of God.
Let’s walk tall and confident in Christ. Heads up, shoulders back, let’s live life in our new identity! And let’s hunger and thirst for righteousness. This craving for God sets us up for true success!
