OMW – LET’S MEDITATE

Yes, let’s do a group event today.

Let’s meditate on a scripture verse, and ask God to speak to each of us more deeply by His Spirit and word. Here’s a great verse:

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6:18 NLT

I see four clear instructions. Let’s study it together:

1. Pray in the Spirit. These are prayers prompted by and pleasing to the Holy Spirit. These are not prayers prompted by jealousy, self-promotion, or greed. These are Spirit-birthed ideas. It means we must be developing a spiritual ear to hear what the Spirit is saying to us. It can also include using our Spirit prayer language as we pray “in tongues” as the Bible refers to in 1 Corinthians 14.

2. Pray at all times and on every occasion. We are to pray about everything, not just the big-ticket items of our life. We are to pray without ceasing, making our communication with God a constant two-way flow each day. We thank Him, make requests, and listen for His promptings to guide us.

3. Stay alert. Be aware of what both God and the devil are up to. Pray to bind the devil, and loose the Spirit to move. Ask God for spiritual antennae that alert you to pray, and how to pray.

4. Be persistent to pray for all believers. Pray for your family, your church family, and for all believers everywhere. Don’t get tempted into the trap of comparing yourself with others. One way to stop competing with other Christians is to pray for their godly success. We are all on the same team! Their victory is also ours. Their increase also helps all the kingdom of God.

“With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.” Ephesians 6:18 AMP
