Friend, I absolutely love my life on earth — but heaven? Heaven is so breathtaking it stretches beyond my wildest imagination. On earth we were created for moments of greatness, but in heaven we get to live alongside the legends of all time. And that’s just the beginning!
Think about it. Our entire time on earth is no bigger than a tiny dot, while eternity is a line that never, ever ends. What God has lovingly prepared for us doesn’t just surpass earthly reality — it obliterates it! This is the future that belongs to you and me.
“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.”
Colossians 3:1-4 NLT
So what are these glorious realities of heaven that we get to set our hearts on? Buckle up — because this is going to ignite something inside you!
1. No sin.
No temptation, fear, or lust. No pride, greed, or racism. None of it — not even a trace! Why? Because neither the devil nor his demons are ever allowed through heaven’s gates. Can you imagine waking up every single day completely free from temptation, fear or lonliness? That day is coming, and it’s yours!
2. The glory of God.
Picture the tangible, overwhelming presence of God surrounding you at all times. His holiness wraps around you like the warmest blanket you’ve ever felt. His righteousness lives and breathes within you. His love — rich, deep, and boundless — fills every single desire of your heart to overflowing. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in constant, joyful fellowship with you. You won’t just know that God is good — you’ll feel it in every moment, forever. The King of the Universe will feel like your closest, most devoted friend.
3. The family of God.
Oh, this one makes my heart sing! Every generation of your earthly family who loves Jesus — gathered together in perfect unity. Grandparents, parents, children, friends — all under one roof, forever. And every fellow citizen of heaven becomes your brother or sister. No arguments, no jealousy, no drama — just pure, authentic, unbreakable love. The family reunion that never ends!
4. Our eternal assignments.
Here’s where it gets exciting — we are not just going to sit on clouds strumming harps! We will rule and reign with Christ. We’ll likely travel at the speed of thought. Our understanding will explode into dimensions we can’t even dream of right now. As we are fully known by God, we will fully know — and that, friend, is going to be the greatest adventure of all eternity.
5. An atmosphere of total love and worship.
Imagine the greatest concert you’ve ever attended — now multiply it by infinity and make it eternal. A continuous, breathtaking wave of praise and worship that never grows old, never feels routine, and never loses its power. Every song fresher and more meaningful than the one before it. Every moment electric with the presence of God. Heaven is alive, and it is magnificent!
All this — and so much more that we haven’t even been given a glimpse of yet — is the stunning reality of our eternity in heaven! So let’s shake off the weight of this world’s worries and cast every single one of them onto Jesus. Let’s lift our eyes, stir up our hope, and start dreaming boldly about the glorious home that is being prepared for us right now.
