Here’s something we all need to hear: Don’t follow your heart. It is deceitful!
Think about it. Your heart can be like a roller-coaster, pulling you in whatever direction it “feels” on any given day. It can shift quickly—swayed by pain, selfish ambition, or even the desire for revenge. Let’s be honest: your up-and-down emotions are not always your friend!
But here’s the great news—you don’t have to stay on that roller-coaster! Your heart can be trained to follow God instead.
“You alone are God… Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify Your name forevermore.” Psalms 86:10–12 NKJV
What an incredible prayer! Our God of the Bible is the one, true God—He is God all by Himself! Every other so-called god is an imposter, inspired by a devil who despises God and therefore despises you.
The devil’s strategy is simple: accuse God, discredit His love, and keep you confused. Every single day he works to lie to you, tempt you, and then shame you for listening to him. Here’s what the devil can never do—he did not die for your sins and rise again. He has neither the desire nor the power to save you. Not even close.
But our God? He patiently, lovingly waits for us—inviting us to stop following our own wandering heart and let Him transform us from the inside out. And here’s how He does it:
First, He draws us close to His heart with His unconditional love. Then, upon our request, He forgives us completely and places His very Spirit within us to seal this breathtaking work of grace. Then, day by day, He gives us both the desire and the power to resist the devil and run from him. As we open the Bible and drink in His Word, His truth pushes out every lie that has taken root in our heart. Little by little, we begin to see it clearly—the devil is a liar, and our God is the only real truth there is!
This is why we love and worship only God… with ALL our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
This is why we ask God to unite our heart to fear and honor His name.
And this is why we joyfully share our faith-story with everyone around us!
