Longing Deeply

Some long deeply for more money. Others for fame. Others long to have one good friend.

Our longings reflect our heart. And if you can identify your #1 longing, you will find your god. Where your treasure is, there is also your heart. (Matthew 6:21)

Because you read this blog, I assume your first longing is knowing God. What if we ramped it up and daily longed for His presence more than anything else?

At the inception of this ministry, Oasis World Ministries, God tested me. He challenged me to “seek His face, and not His hand”. So for thirty days, I tried not to ask God for anything in prayer, but only become a daily worshiper. Thirty days later, I had our first two unsolicited invitations… one to India, and one to Africa. The rest is our history.

God was teaching me to not make ministry my deepest longing, but to make Him and His presence my deepest longing. Sometimes they are easy to confuse. So read this slowly:

“Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those who seek and require the Lord [as their most essential need] rejoice. Seek and deeply long for the Lord and His strength [His power, His might]; Seek and deeply long for His face and His presence continually.” Psalms 105:3-4 AMP

  • What if we deeply longed for His presence by making our daily devotions our priority?
  • What if we joyfully gave our tithes to the Lord as our first fruits from our budget?
  • What if we daily asked God to lead us to one person to impact with the gospel?
  • What if we deeply longed to love our family with God’s perfect love?
  • What if we sought God’s face more than His hand?

“I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead…” Philippians 3:10 NLT

Longing deeply for God and His ways is what fulfills us most! The longing for the world’s stuff leaves us empty. Let’s deeply long for our Lord!
