Contend for Faith

God is looking for spirit-fighters… people who recognize spiritual warfare, and are willing to defend their faith.

“Beloved,… I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” Jude 1:3 NKJV

I’m reading stories my deceased dad wrote about his childhood. One day, as a 12 year old, he took the opportunity to tell his best friend about the love of Jesus, and the dangers of hell. When he was done, his friend spit in his face, and walked away.

Why would his friend do that? There is a war going on for the souls of men and women, and boys and girls. Only the truth can set them free. We are the only humans that can tell them the truth about God’s great love for them, and about heaven and hell.

I recently saw a video of an intense Muslim man yelling that Islam is in the USA, and they would take over the country. The other man argued with him, and said “over my dead body”.

While we don’t wrestle against humans, we must

speak the truth in love. We simply must.

Jude was telling them to not only talk about their own salvation amongst themselves, but to aggressively contend for their faith. He urged them to strenuously maintain what they believe, and their freedom to share it. Like the apostle Paul did, we also are to defend and protect the work of God in our family, community and country.

“Beloved,…I was compelled to write to you [urgently] appealing that you fight strenuously for [the defense of] the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints…” Jude 1:3 AMP

Freedom has never been free. Jesus lovingly paid the greatest price.
